Popular?

I must be so popular now because I'm getting all sorts of comments from what I believe to be non-human visitors. So, now you must enter a word verification to leave a comment. But leave comments still, kay?

...don't hate me because I'm careful.

A Clean Room

Have you ever had a really cluttered space in your house, and then it gets cleaned and all you want to do is sit in that space, and look at that space, and talk to that space...oh, did I take that too far? Anyway....this past weekend I was in Utah to do a Clean Sweep for a friend of mine as a birthday present. It was a lot of work but it was so rewarding for me, there was such a huge sense of accomplishment.

How does clutter happen? One minute it's a clean room and the next it's full of crap. It happens to all of us and it's so frustrating.

Here are a pictorial review of the event! Enjoy!

dun dun duuuuun, the room:

We spent a good amount of time with this look on our faces. "What is this, why is this here, is this trash, wonder what we should do with it."

Ala Clean Sweep we put stuff we couldn't sort ourselves in a specific location for further sorting by my friend.

I was told there was no vacuum, so I spent a good amount of time on my hands and knees with a shop vac. I hate that shop vac.

Aaaaaah, and here is the final project. It's light and airy and looks so good. I'm so HAPPY!

Smell Your Card....

So, Happy Administrative Professionals' Day!
(yeah, I didn't know either)

My boss walked up this morning with a balloon, a plant and a big smile. I just sort of looked at her while trying to casually see what the balloon said. I managed, "Wow, what's the occasion" and then realized what it was for and quickly said, "Wow, THANKS!"

I got a balloon, which is proudly floating above my head as I type, an ivy plant and a gift card for Target.

Shortly after the delivery my boss came by;

boss: "Smell your gift card"
me: " [.....]"
boss: "really, smell it....smells like bananas"
me: [hesitantly, *sniff*] "oh...it totally does!"
Apparently it's scratch and sniff

So, happy Assistants' Day to me. Go on then, wish me a happy day.

Half full or half empty ?

pes·si·mism –noun
1. the tendency to see, anticipate, or emphasize only bad or undesirable outcomes, results, conditions, problems, etc.

Personally, I always see the glass as a "half glass of water." What does that say about me?

A friend recently categorized me as a pessimist and, frankly, I was shocked. I definitely wouldn't classify myself as generally optimistic, but I also don't consider myself generally pessimistic. More likely I am a realist.

re·al·ist Pronunciation -noun
1. a person who tends to view or represent things as they really are.

Just give it to me like it is. Don't sugar coat it, don't coat it in gloom, it is what it is.

So being categorized as pessimistic has sort of got me thinking. What it about my everyday life would have someone see me that way when I don't see myself that way? Am I not self aware? Do they think if you're not optimistic you're pessimistic by default? For me, pessimism has a negative connotation and maybe it shouldn't.

I definitely do not buy into that "secret" philosophy of if you envision it it will happen. I know people with cancer...so if they can truly see themselves without cancer will they become cancer-free? If I envision myself never having another kidney stone will that cure my kidneys? I don't think so. I guess if not buying in makes me a pessimist, that's what I am.

What say you?
